The Great Resignation … Zoom fatigue … the often acknowledged “new nor­mal.” Most of us are familiar with these terms today. The pandemic brought huge changes in the way we work, live, and think. Conse­quently, we’ve seen a fundamental shift in power dynamics, away from employers toward employ­ees taking charge of their work lives. As such, organi­zations have taken note and are struggling to manage today’s changed work environment using conventional employee engagement processes.

Employees are not resources — they are human beings with physiological and psychological needs that the pandemic has amplified and brought to the forefront. This ought to be addressed carefully and thoughtfully.

Analyzing employee behavior using the Prism View Framework

This article explores some of these challenges through what we call the Prism View Framework and provides solutions for managers at every level to mitigate these challenges by using proven psychological concepts (see Figure 1). The suggestions in this article will help managers implement new ideas and strengthen employee engagement as they create a more productive work culture as part of the new normal.
